In the relief printing technique, using printers ink, I inked the object with a brush and/or roller then transferred the image to paper by direct pressure.
The Blue Fish skeleton was used for two prints. For variety different colors were used.
*What are Monotypes
and Monoprints?
A monotype is made by creating an image with ink or paint using brushes, rollers, sponges or fingers on a non-porous, flat surface that is usually zinc, copper aluminum glass or plexiglass.
This image is then printed onto another surface, usually a dampened piece of paper, by using a press or a hand rubbing. The resulting image is reversed and very often significantly different from the one you see on the plate.
A monoprint is somewhat different from the monotype. In a monoprint, the plate has a fixed image or matrix that is either incised, built in relief, or both. This image is repeated from print to print while each print will be altered by painting or inking various areas in different ways for each printing. Like monotypes, monoprints have been traditionally printed using a press or by rubbing with one's hand, a baren, or the back of a wooden spoon. Both monotypes and monoprints are unique, for no two are exactly alike.
