UNCW has documented the existence of Kemps Ridley in the Cape Fear River. Should one witness or catch a sea turtle on a fishing line that is landed remember to cut the line at least 24 inches?  Should the hook not be removable thus requiring transport to the turtle hospital a long line helps to aid the hospital staff in removal of the hook and lessens the possibility of additional treatment and possible surgery at NC State Veterinary School
